In UWCSEA, there are 30 girls and s boys, they all decided to buy 3 sweets each. In TTS, there are the same number of girls as UWCSEA and 19 boys, they all decided to buy 4 sweets each. The number of sweets bought for each person in UWCSEA and TTS equals the same amount.
You said that for TTS there are the same number of girls as UWCSEA (30 girls) + 19 boys, which would mean that the equation would be 3(30 + s) = 4(30+19), so that doesn't really make sense. Other than that the equation is simple and does make sense.
In group A there are 3 students and in group B there are 4 students. Everybody in group A and B passed the test so they were all given sweets and chocolate as a reward. In group A, all 3 of the students got 30 bars of chocolate and s amount of sweets. In group B, all 4 students s amount of sweets and 19 bars of chocolate. The amount of sweets and chocolate that were given out in both classes are the same. How many sweets were given to group A?
Your vocabulary should be a little more precise: "all 3 of the students got 30 bars of chocolate and s amount of sweets EACH." Otherwise, the word problem is functional, and it represents the equation well.
